1st Texanniversary

By munchkinmommy

Today, Abby and I mark our 1st Texanniversary. :)   I took a look at my very first post since we got here and realized that in a year’s time, so much has happened…to me, to hubby, to all of us…and all for the greater good (I hope and believe!)…ours and for the people we love. :)

Indulge me in a quick run through.  Between May 2007 and May 2008…

- We managed to fill the house with all things necessary (and unnecessary!) to make it work and be homey.

-  I thought hen = chicken.  Apparently, it wasn’t!

-  Abby was weaned from breastfeeding a few weeks after we arrived.  She was 2 years and 9 months all.

Abby had her first haircut in Texas and on her own, decided she wanted bangs.

Abby was potty-trained in July 2007.   And from day 1 of her potty-training, she never went back to diapers.  No nappies for bed and for going out.  Can you feel the pride? ;)

Abby painted her face out of boredom.

I got myself a driver’s license and have been driving again.  Wiiiiii!

-  Hubby and I have driven 4 rental cars and 2 rental vans: a Chrysler PT Cruiser, a Chevy HHR, a Chrysler Siebring, a Dodge Avenger, a Dodge Grand Caravan and a Kia Sedona.  This kinda gave as an illussion that we’re rich.  Perfect for attracting abundance!  Hahaha! :)

-  With the success of Project Preschool. Abby started school in August 2007, a few days short of her 1st birthday.  I can’t forget Abby’s 1st day

-  We’ve been to a number of key Texas Cities:  San Antonio, New Braunfels, Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston.

-  We’ve had the pleasure of playing host to family and friends.  These were some of the best times we’ve had away from the Philippiines.

-  All important holidays were a first-time celebration away from home:  Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Valentine’s Day plus our birthdays!

-  I came up with 2 more blogs: Cafe Munchkin, which wouldn’t have happened if not for my dear friend, Thess; and Mapped Memories, the newest of the two at 2 months and a few weeks old. :)

-  I’ve had a lot of kitchen nightmares…and triumphs, too! ;)

Abby had cavities filled…twice!  And the last visit to the dentist included a nerve therapy as well…a baby root canal!  I never did tell you about that, huh?  Oops.  It’s the childbirth anesthesia. :)

Abby has been going to dance class and enjoying every minute of it.

-  Abby has learned a few Tagalog songs.

-  I dove into the paid blogging pool!

-  We’ve taken so many photos and a few videos.

-  I’ve made so many new friends through blogging and a lot of them have become friends for keeps.  Truth be told, I’ve made more blogger friends in the last 12 months alone out of almost 3 years of blogging.  I’m so glad I moved to WordPress!  Hahaha!

What else?  There’s so much more but I know you get the picture!  Hee hee!  The last 12 months have been quite an adventure for us.  And I thank you for listening reading as I rant and rave about anything and everything.  Thank you for the comments you leave when you visit.  These make me feel that I’m actually talking to someone who’s listening.  And so, the adventure continues for the three of us.  As I pray for all of you, please do whisper a prayer for us, too.  One of Thanksgiving will suffice.

Have a great new week, y’all!  May God continue to watch over and bless us all! :)

oOo

05 May 2008

Pahabol! :D   It was already late last night when I uploaded pics from our celebratory lunch at Pappasito’s.  Here are a few…

I posted more pictures (including food! ;) ) at Cafe Munchkin and some more of ”shy Abby” at Mapped Memories. :)   How’s that for shameless plugging?!  Hahaha!

anyway, i’m sure there will be lots more adventures waiting for you, and i know that you’ll really make the most out of all of it. :) *muah*

Hi Meeya! Thank you! Ang bilis ano? One year na! Balik kayo dito, dalii! Paassign mo na kasi si A dito! ;) Mmmwah!

  6. Junnie Says:

ambilis naman ng araw! when’s the next reshuffling of places to go to kaya? wag muna noh…some people need to nest kahit papaano…Meeya included :P

enjoy more years in Austin. I just had a phone meeting with another contractor who just moved there last month. Pandagdag sa mga Pinoys diyan…and the CEO of one of our companies reside there…and has always raved about the place.

next time, when we’re there, we will validate….but from the looks of your faces – parang masaya nga :)

Hi Junnie! Thank you! :) Ang bilis nga ng panahon. I always pray that hubby doesn’t get transferred elsewhere. I love it here! Sabi nga ni Meeya dati, I’ll have to be dragged kicking and screaming out of Austin. Hahaha! Basta Junnie ha, you let me know when you’re coming here. Alam mo naman kami, naghahanap palagi ng bisita! :)

  7. Pinky Says:

Whew! That was a looong list of firsts for your first year – I’m amazed at how you even managed to list them all! :)

What can I say? Blessings beget blessings. You guys have been blessed abundantly because you too have been sources of blessings to others. God is truly good and your family is living proof of this.

Happy 1st anniversary to you! Here’s to more abundant and blessed years in the “land of milk and honey”. Mwah!!

Hi Pinks! Marami pa akong hindi nailista. Hee hee! You know I’m so afraid to bore the few readers that I have. :D God is simply the best. Basta we tell Him, siya na ang bahala. And its an honor to be blessiings to other people, in our little way. We wish you blessings too…in the land of oil…and more oil. ;) Mmmwah!
