Well look at that! It’s Friday already and I have yet to tell you about last weekend! So that’s just what I’m gonna do now.
Friday, 02 November
We kicked-off our weekend with a party. It was a children’s party but hey, a party is a party! Hahaha! It was the 3rd birthday of Milo, son of my dear friend, Bet. Going to Bet’s house, party or no party, wreaks havoc on anyone’s attempt to lose weight, mine in particular. There’s always good food and she always ALWAYS sends us food to take home. Promise! We pigged out on tender finger-lickin’ barbecue, shrimps, chicken wings and pancit. Just thinking about it makes me all dreamy…and guilty all over again.
For dessert, we had healthy fresh fruit salad care of Bet’s neighbor and cake. I’ve taken to heart the rule, “Thou shall not appear at a party empty-handed.” So I brought some blondies…though a shade darker than the platinum I was gunning for. We all had fun, specially Abby who loves going to her Tita Bet’s house.
Next party is on the 21st of this month, birthday of Bet’s niece, Winona. And we’re definitely going back to that house, with or without an invite!

Milo takes a shot at blowing his candle. He got it in about 2 or 3 tries. Si Abby o, sumisimple sa pag-blow!

My not so blonde blondies. I’ll make sure to use light brown sugar next time.
Saturday, 03 November
We pretty much stayed at home on Saturday and didn’t head out the door ’til 6:30pm to see “Meet the Robinsons”….at the subdivision’s main park. No kidding! And for free, too! Watching a movie in the park was a first for us and we were excited. We brought our mat, blanket and movie food. It was a chilly night but that didn’t stop us from having fun along with the other families who came to see the movie. Oooh and you know what, it turns out we didn’t have to bring movie food, because there was free popcorn and sodas (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, water, etc.)! Gosh I love this place! Did I just say love? No, no, no. I meant LIKE. I LIKE this place…very very very much!

I do think I like lounging outdoors even when it’s chilly! The movie was supposed to start at 7pm but since it wasn’t totally dark yet at that time, we had to wait an extra 15 minutes.

Free popcorn and Diet Coke (among other sodas). The chips in the Ziploc bag is our baon.

Movie time! We have to get ourselves some lawn chairs! Maybe not. I like sitting on the ground/grass with a mat.
Sunday, 04 November
On Sunday, we attended the 10am mass instead of our usual 11:45am because we wanted to squeeze in a side-trip to Europe.
Want to know which country? Here’s a clue…

Come on! That’s a no-brainer!
Ok, ok, so we didn’t really go to Germany. But it sure felt like we did! We spent the afternoon in New Braunfels (Braunfels = “brown rock” in German), home to a good number of German-Texans and which is only an hour’s drive away from where we live. It was all for a good cause, the Wurstfest.
Wurstfest literally means sausage festival. In New Braunfels, it’s a 10-day celebration of German heritage. There’s lots of things German: music, souvenirs, and food, food, food! We went there for the sausages and we did have our fill…

Since we didn’t finish our sides, we didn’t get really full yet…so hubby, Abby and I shared a sausage on a stick.
We had a sausage festival alright!

The long line for potato pancakes got us overly curious. It never got short! We endured a 15-30 minute wait.

Here it is…potato pancakes with applesauce. One can have it with sausage. It didn’t appeal to me. It was like hashbrowns only I would prefer the hashbrowns. I guess curiosity got the best of us.
We left New Braunfels to head home at 4pm. On the way back, I needed to take a restroom break so I asked hubby to make a detour and drive out exit 200. Waddaya know, it’s the exit to two huge outlet centers: Prime Outlets San Marcos and Tanger Outlets! A restroom break never got me so excited! I chose to do my thing at Prime Outlets.
Seriously, we really did plan to stop by the outlets, to “take a look”. It was a good kind of torture if you ask me…windowshopping at one of the biggest outlet centers! We only stayed there for 2 hours. I did end up buying a few stuff though: cheap Ralph Lauren shades and a couple of bottles of body wash and body mist (Bath and Body Works).
Here’s the thing that’s getting me excited, from 12mn to 8am on the Friday after Thanksgiving, there’s supposed to be a huge sale all over the US. I’m sort of targetting to be at San Marcos in that 8-hour window. I’m thinking we spend the night in San Marcos after Thanksgiving dinner or hubby and Abby can just, well, sleep in the car.
Hahaha! We’ll see. There’s an outlet 15 minutes away form where we live, which will have the same super sale hours but the stores in San Marcos just makes my heart beat faster.
I think we’ll just kick back and relax this weekend…unless something interesting presents intself. Have a great weekend y’all!
Meanwhile, here’s the rest of our Wurstfest pics…
